The main objective of this project was to develop preventive footwear that helps reduce pressure in the metatarsal area of the lower limbs of ballet dancers before beginning and after the activity ends. The purpose is to contribute to the recovery of the musculoskeletal system since this practice implies long training days where repetitive and rotational movements, jump receptions, and pointe work are carried out, which are demanding; for this reason, it is proposed to design an element that cooperates in reducing the shock and the force that is produced with the surface of the ground during walking, specifically in the metatarsals to avoid the accumulation or increase of fatigue in this area of the foot. In addition, it also has an element that provides that the bone stressed by the activity has its resynthesis process and influences keeping the bone stable and the joints relaxed. In the development of this project, concepts such as biomechanics, pathomechanics, positions, and technical ballet gestures, repetition microtrauma, and the influence it has on the second metatarsal rupture of the foot were used and investigated, some related background information was analyzed with the problem and its impact; furthermore, some references from the medical part are also taken into account as to how this type of injury is usually treated.
On the other hand, a methodology is carried out that is divided into five phases, which are: analysis, where the problem is delimited through inquiries, observations, and user interactions with their environment in order to identify the aspects that are considered relevant to the project; the second stage is the definition, its focus is aimed at projecting what is needed and required to achieve the objective; the third part is the ideation in which design proposals are created to reach a solution that responds to the problem, in fourth place is the implementation, which leads to the development of the prototype and everything that it requires for its manufacture; For the last time in the evaluation phase, a test is carried out with the user where it is evaluated if the implemented proposal is viable.
