At some point electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) is discarded to become waste. Today they are the waste with the highest growth globally and locally and the one with the highest value in the market (Minambiente.gov.co, s.f.). Recovering the metals is a task that should be started in Colombia; When disassembling a piece of equipment, the printed circuit boards remain to be processed, which are exported to metal refiners on different continents that do have the technology that allows them to be fully exploited. The business opportunity is latent by refining the more than 60 metals contained in printed circuit boards in Colombia with lower environmental impacts and generation of greenhouse gases compared to traditional mining. It is of vital importance that environmental regulations provide greater clarity to this type of industry and that the costs in tax matters are clear and defined. Additionally, it is crucial to define the responsibility of the producer when these products become waste, also involving the percentages of use and reuse within the framework of the circular economy. The central objective of this article will be to analyze the viability of the operation of an integral plant for the use of electrical and electronic waste in Colombia, making an analysis of the amount of exports together with its advantages and disadvantages compared to the technical models of operation and its regulations. current. For this, a comparative case study of a European company for the comprehensive management of electrical and electronic waste that serves as a replica model in Colombia will be carried out, and, subsequently, the internal environmental and tax regulations will be verified for the viability of the operation of a plant for the comprehensive use of electrical and electronic waste.
