El entorno institucional de I+D y su influencia en el empleo y las ventas en la pyme manufacturera mexicana.

Abstract

El propósito de este artículo es determinar si existe relación entre el entorno institucional de I+D y el fortalecimiento empresarial en la pyme manufacturera mexicana. A partir de aquellas empresas con crecimiento superior en ventas y empleo, se buscará identificar qué variables de I+D en su entorno impulsan el crecimiento. La investigación empírica se realizó a una muestra de 402 pymes manufactureras, y se aplicó un análisis longitudinal que estudió el periodo 2007-2010. El principal hallazgo es que las instituciones y políticas públicas referentes a la I+D influyen positivamente en el empleo de la pyme manufacturera y, caso contrario, en el crecimiento de las ventas.

This paper aims to determine whether there is a correlation between institutional R&D environment and industrial strengthening in Mexican manufacturing SMEs. Based on those companies with higher growth in sales and employment, it seeks to identify R&D variables in their environments that drive their growth. This empirical research was based on a survey of a sample of 402 Mexican manufacturing SMEs with a longitudinal analysis during the period 2007-2010. The main result is that R&D institutions and public policies have a positive influence on employment in manufacturing SMEs, but the opposite effect on sales growth.
