Introducción: La diabetes mellitus tipo II, es una enfermedad crónica degenerativa, por su naturaleza y severidad en las complicaciones. Se considera una enfermedad crónica altamente costosa, y su pronto diagnóstico y un buen manejo reducirían las complicaciones graves de la enfermedad como la retinopatía, la nefropatía, la neuropatía y el final de la vida. También mejoraría la calidad de vida de los pacientes diabéticos. Objetivo: Determinar la relación existente entre calidad de vida y el control glucémico de las personas con diabetes que participan en el programa de diabetes mellitus tipo II en el Hospital Dos de Mayo. Junio .2016. Metodología: de enfoque cuantitativo, de alcance descriptivo y transversal porque será recopilado en un determinado tiempo. Resultados: El 62% de pacientes diabéticos son de sexo femenino, el 61% de pacientes refieren estar tristes según rol emocional, el 64% de pacientes presentan calidad de vida regular según dimensión rol físico, el 51% de pacientes manifiestan dolor corporal moderado según dimensión dolor corporal, el 50% de pacientes presenta calidad de vida buena con la familia según dimensión rol social y el 66% de pacientes presentan calidad de vida alterado según control de glucosa. Conclusión: La Relación entre la calidad de vida y el control glucémico de las personas con diabetes es inadecuado, el control glucémico en los pacientes diabéticos de 70 - 110mg/dl es adecuado, por lo tanto, se rechaza hipótesis planteada.
