Resumen
Los teléfonos celulares son utilizados frecuentemente por los trabajadores de la salud durante las horas de trabajo y no se desinfectan adecuadamente, los teléfonos celulares son susceptibles a la contaminación por patógenos bacterianos y podrían estar involucrados en la transmisión nosocomial.
El teléfono celular es perfecto para funcionar como reservorio de patógenos nosocomiales por el amplio uso dentro de unidades de salud y los pocos cuidados de desinfección que se realizan, es por esto por lo que realizamos esta investigación, para determinar si el teléfono celular constituye un reservorio de patógenos nosocomiales y potencialmente puede constituir un fómite de estos en un medio hospitalario.
Se han reportado en bacterias como Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa y Escherichia coli, que permanecen viables por largos periodos y son una fuente importante de infección.
Una de las medidas para evitar las infecciones intrahospitalarias, es también aplicar estrictamente las medidas habituales como el lavado de manos y la asepsia al manipular de celular, ya que la periodicidad de desinfección de los teléfonos celulares es escasa puesto que la mayoría no desinfectan su celular.
