Índice de masa corporal como factor pronóstico de mortalidad intrahospitalaria en pacientes con síndrome de distréss respiratorio agudo ingresados en la unidad de cuidados intensivos del hospital Víctor Lazarte Echegaray

Resumen
La presente investigación busca identificar si el índice de masa corporal, es un factor pronóstico de mortalidad intrahospitalaria, en pacientes ingresados en la unidad de cuidados intensivos (UCI) del Hospital Víctor Lazarte Echegaray (HVLE).
Se elaborará un estudio analítico, longitudinal, de cohortes retrospectivo, donde los pacientes ingresados a la UCI, con síndrome de distréss respiratorio agudo serán depurados según los criterios de selección y separados en dos cohortes: aquellos con índice de masa corporal elevado durante su hospitalización en UCI (cohorte expuesta) y los que tienen índice de masa corporal normal (cohorte no expuesta). Luego se tomará el resultado final de los fallecidos durante la hospitalización y los no fallecidos de cada cohorte. Se establecerá la mortalidad en las cohortes de expuestos y no expuestos, finalmente se calculará el riesgo relativo con sus intervalos de confianza.
Los resultados serán presentados en tablas de frecuencias con los gráficos adecuados para su interpretación. Se utilizará el software estadístico EPIDAT 3.1. El análisis estadístico a emplear será la prueba de Chi cuadrado y el riesgo relativo con una significancia de p< 0.05.
