El propósito de este estudio fue determinar la estructura financiera de las empresas del sector industrial y clasificarlas de acuerdo a las teorías propuestas en el presente trabajo mediante la aplicación de indicadores financieros. Las teorías postuladas son, la teoría de la Irrelevancia que postula ser representada por una estructura financiera agresiva, la teoría del Trade Off que es representada por una estructura financiera conservadora y finalmente la teoría del Orden de Preferencia que es representada por una estructura financiera conservadora, se clasificó a las empresas seleccionadas del sector industrial en el marco de cada una de estas teorías, analizando la información financiera recopilada, de forma anual de sus estados financieros auditados y procesados mediante el uso de los ratios financieros de, Liquidez, Apalancamiento, Gestión y Rentabilidad. Finalmente, se logró determinar cuáles fueron las estructuras financieras que mantuvieron cada una de las empresas motivo de investigación durante el periodo 2014-2016 y cual de todas fue la más representativa.
