Resumen
El objetivo de este trabajo de investigación fue estimar la profundidad de socavación local en el puente Jangas mediante ecuaciones empíricas en el año 2020, el puente de estudio tiene como ubicación el distrito de Jangas, provincia de Huaraz, departamento de Ancash. Se estableció un periodo de retorno de 500 años para la determinación de los caudales máximos de diseño de Reyes (2009) y del Gobierno Regional de Ancash (2017), estos se validaron mediante el rastro de paleocrecida aguas arriba; se aplicaron los métodos empíricos de estimación de socavación local de Liu, Chang y Skinner, Artamonov, Froehlich, Laursen y Hire, estos métodos se validaron mediante el método de observación directa en campo. Los resultados de las socavaciones estimadas para el estribo izquierdo con el caudal máximo de diseño de Reyes (2009) correspondiente a 734.00 m3/s, fueron de 2.00 m., 1.95 m., 3.31 m., 4.08 m. y 12.05 m. mediante los métodos empiricos de Liu, Chang y Skinner, Artamonov, Froehlich, Laursen y Hire, respectivamente; y para el caudal máximo de diseño del Gobierno Regional de Ancash (2017), fueron de 2.01 m., 1.88 m., 3.33 m., 4.06 m. y 11.82 m. respectivamente; asimismo, en el método de observación directa se obtuvo una socavación de 3.10 m. Se concluye que el método de Froehlich es el que mejor se adecua para estimación y predicción de socavación local en el estribo izquierdo del puente Jangas, para el material de lecho clasificado como grava bien graduada
