Efecto de la exposición a bebidas energéticas en la resistencia a la tracción de cadenas elásticas de comercialización local en el año 2019

Introducción: las cadenas elastoméricas son polímeros de poliuretanos
ampliamente usados en la Ortodoncia, por sus numerosas propiedades; sin
embargo, el ambiente oral puede afectarlas negativamente, lo que conlleva a la
pérdida de sus fuerzas elásticas Objetivo: evaluar el efecto de la exposición a
bebidas energéticas en la resistencia a la tracción de las cadenas elásticas de
ortodoncia de comercialización local. Métodos: fue un estudio experimental in vitro
Se evaluaron 20 muestras de cadenas elásticas de ortodoncia (Morelli®), de color
transparente de cinco eslabones de tramo corto, Todas fueron estiradas a 20 mm de
su longitud inicial. Se sumergieron en Red Bull, Volt, Monster y saliva artificial a 27
°C. Se midió la resistencia a la tracción al inicio, 5, 10, 15 y 30 minutos, con maquina
digital de ensayos universales CMT- 5L. Se realizó T de Student, ANOVA, Kruskal
Wallis, signos rangos de Wilcoxon, signos rangos de Friedman. Resultados: la
mayor degradación de la resistencia a la tracción se observó a los cinco minutos;
hubo diferencia significativa entre el tiempo inicial y 5 min (p:<0.017) y entre 15 vs
30 min (p: <0.006). Con la bebida Volt se mostró la mayor degradación (28.5 %), Red
Bull (28.1 %), Monster Energy (25.9 % y saliva artificial (17.5 %). Conclusiones: a
pesar que hubo degradación en la resistencia a la tracción de las cadenas elásticas
con el tiempo de exposición, los resultados de esta muestra no evidenciaron
interacción entre la resistencia a la tracción de los elastómeros y el tipo de bebida
energética.
