Efecto hepatoprotector del extracto etanólico de las hojas de Copaifera paupera (Herzog) Dwyr (copaiba) en ratas albinas

Las especies del género Copaifera son conocidas como copaiba, se distribuye en
zonas amazónicas de Brasil, Colombia, Venezuela y Perú, se le atribuyen
propiedades cicatrizantes, antiséptico, antiinflamatorio, antitumoral y antioxidante.
El objetivo fue determinar el efecto hepatoprotector del extracto etanólico de las
hojas de Copaifera paupera (Herzog) Dwyr (copaiba) (EEHCP) en ratas albinas. El
diseño fue experimental preclínico y aleatorio, se usó 36 ratas albinas Holtzman
divididos en seis grupos, recibieron tratamiento vía oral durante 7 días; i) solución
salina normal 0,9% (SSN) 5 mL/kg, ii) SSN 5 mL/kg + Paracetamol 400 mg/kg (P),
iii) EEHCP 150 mg/kg + P, iv) EEHCP 300 mg/kg + P, v) EEHCP 500 mg/kg + P y
vi) Silimarina 100 mg/kg + P. La toxicidad hepática fue inducida con paracetamol
400 mg/kg, para valorar la función hepática se analizó los indicadores bioquímicos;
transaminasa (TGO, TGP), proteínas totales, fosfatasa alcalina, albúmina y
bilirrubina total en muestras de sangre. Resultados, en el EEHCP se identificó
compuestos fenólicos, alcaloides, leucoantocianidinas, flavonoides y taninos. Los
valores promedios de transaminasas (TGO, TGP), proteínas totales disminuyen en
los grupos tratados con el EEHCP el cual fue dependiente de la dosis, la dosis de
500 mg/kg mostró efecto significativo (p<0,05) respecto al grupo control y las otras
dosis del extracto. Asimismo, el EEHCP disminuyó los valores de bilirrubina total y
fosfatasa alcalina, la albúmina aumenta en los grupos tratados con el EEHCP y en
el grupo de silimarina (p<0,05). La dosis de 500 mg/kg del EEHCP tuvo efecto
similar al grupo de silimarina (p>0,05). Conclusión, se evidenció que el EEHCP tiene
efecto hepatoprotector, probablemente por mecanismo antioxidante de sus
metabolitos secundarios frente a daño inducido por paracetamol en ratas albinas.
