Microplásticos en tres playas arenosas de la costa central del Perú

Los microplásticos (MP) se han convertido en un nuevo contaminante de preocupación mundial, y en el Perú solo el 56% de residuos plásticos terminan en un relleno sanitario y el 43,7% terminan en los ríos y en el océano, motivo por el cual, en los meses de verano (Enero y Febrero) del 2020, se ha realizado la evaluación de MP en tres playas arenosas, Chancay (M1), Carpayo (M2) y Asia (M3) de la costa central de Lima, Perú. Donde se empleó el método de flotación por densidad y se identificó MP primarios y secundarios. La caracterización de MP se dio en relación a tipo, forma, color y fuente. La mayor concentración de MP se encontró en la playa M2 (202.02 ± 10.38 Artículos/kg), mientras que la más baja concentración se encontró en la playa M3 (116.73 ± 15.07 Artículos/kg). En la identificación de MP por zona (supralitoral e infralitoral) y por clasificación (primario y secundario) se ha evidenciado que en la playa M2, en la zona supralitoral se encontró (257.30 ± 7.88 Artículos/kg) de MP primarios, el mayor valor en comparación a las demás playas evaluadas, y respecto a MP secundario la mayor cantidad se encontró en la zona supralitoral (222.44 ± 10.88 Artículos/kg) de la playa M2. En la playa M1 y M2 predominaron los MP tipo fibra, en M3 predominó los MP tipo fragmento. Los MP primario encontrados son de color azul y amarillo de forma alargada e irregular, proveniente principalmente de ropa sintética y resinas, respecto a MP secundario los colores predominantes fueron azul, rojo, verde y blanco de forma alargada, ovoide, y redondeada, proveniente de ropas sintéticas, red de pesca, tecnopor, bolsas y botellas. Los resultados evidencian que se requiere tomar medidas de control para mejorar la calidad ambiental de las playas marinas de la costa central del Perú.
