Asociación entre fragilidad y síntomas depresivos en adultos mayores atendidos por telemedicina

Antecedentes y objetivo: El síndrome de fragilidad y la presencia de síntomas depresivos engloban dos grandes síndromes que en la población geriátrica aumentan el riesgo de morbi-mortalidad. El objetivo del estudio es determinar la asociación entre síntomas depresivos y fragilidad clínica en adultos mayores atendidos por telemedicina en un distrito de Lima-Perú, para así manejar el síndrome de fragilidad y la depresión como problemas correlacionados en un adulto mayor, ya que son factores premonitores de problemas de salud en éstos aumentando la morbi-mortalidad. Materiales y métodos: Se realizó estudio observacional, analítico, transversal, que consistió en un análisis primario de una base de datos. Se analizó la información de adultos mayores de 60 años residentes en Chaclacayo (Lima, Perú). Mediante la regresión de Poisson se calculó las razones de prevalencia e intervalos de confianza al 95%. Resultados: Se incluyeron 274 participantes con una edad promedio de 71.93 años con una desviación estándar de 8.46, en su mayoría del sexo femenino siendo 51.46% (n=141). Se encontró una alta frecuencia de síntomas depresivos en los pacientes con fragilidad y con la ayuda de la regresión de Poisson determinamos que tener síntomas depresivos se asocia con una probabilidad 6.99 veces mayor de tener fragilidad en comparación a los que no cuentas con éstos. Conclusión: Se concluyó que los síntomas depresivos aumentan las probabilidades de tener fragilidad clínica en adultos mayores, por lo tanto, están asociadas.
