Objetivo: La presente investigación pretende establecer el uso de las de las redes sociales en la estrategia de comunicación de la UCSP y su impacto para los estudiantes universitarios de la UCSP en la ciudad de Arequipa en el año 2013.
Método: Se trabajó con una investigación explicativa de diseño no experimental y transversal, a través de un cuestionario para determinar el perfil de los estudiantes universitarios, así como la importancia de Facebook y Twitter para los estudiantes y el conocimiento de las cuentas de la universidad en ambas redes sociales. También se utilizó un análisis de contenido ad hoc para determinar el impacto de ambas redes sociales.
Resultados: Se estableció el perfil de los estudiantes universitarios, como mujeres entre 18 a 24 años que pertenecían al II Semestre de Administración o Ingeniería Industrial. Además que consideran como más importante a Facebook antes que a Twitter y sólo el 9.9% conocía ambos perfiles de la universidad. Por último el impacto expresado como el engagement en Facebook y Twitter, es positivo en ambas redes sociales.
