Resumen
Objective: To establish the relationship between depression and anxiety in the elderly in the town
of Pochccota - Andahuaylas 2020.
Material and methods: The present study according to Carrasco (2005) is the Basic one, since the
research does not have immediate applicative purposes, since it only seeks to broaden and deepen
the flow of existing scientific knowledge about reality, and because they allow to detail situations
and events, that is, how it is and how the study variables are manifested. The research level of this
project, according to Carrasco (2005), is descriptive, because the present research will describe the
main characteristics of the phenomenon under study without generating changes in reality.
Population: The population will be made up of 58 older adults from the town of Pochccota -
Andahuaylas. This research will be carried out with the participation of 44 older adults from the
town of Pochccota - Andahuaylas, where 31 men and 13 women are located, who are between the
ages of 60-70 years.
Results: Regarding the instrument of the "DD Self-Assessment Scale by WWK Zung", on the
question of "I feel dejected and melancholic", it was shown that 40.91% corresponds to always or
almost always, 31.82% corresponds quite frequently, 20.45% corresponds to times and 6.82%
corresponds to never or almost never.
Conclusion: Within the analysis of the study presented, it is concluded that there is a statistically
significant relationship between depression and anxiety in the elderly in the town of Pochccota -
Andahuaylas 2020. This relationship is demonstrated under the Chi-square relationship (p> 0.05)
