Páginas [281]-315 En este trabajo, nuestra aproximación a una historia cultural de las minas andinas se realizará a través del estudio del lenguaje: revelador privilegiado del contacto entre los dos mundos. 1 Nos limitaremos al análisis de tres fuentes: la Relación General de la Villa Imperial de Potosí de Luis Capoche de l 5 85, el primer diccionario de términos mineros andinos: el Diccionario de García de Llanos de l 6 l l, y el manual de minería y metalurgia más importante del Renacimiento, El arte de los metales, de Alvaro Alonso Barba, publicado en Madrid en l 640. Estas obras fueron elaboradas en el Virreinato del Perú y están centradas en el centro minero más importante de la época: el Cerro Rico de Potosí.
