Resumen
This study aims to determine the impact of work environment on the sense of belonging of the
staff of the Ecuadorian Social Security Institute, Azuay branch. This is a descriptive,
correlational, and quantitative research study. The stratified sample features 138 individuals.
Data collection was carried out using three questionnaires for sociodemographic variables,
work environment by Litwin and Stringer, and sense of belonging by Hatergy and Patusky.
The reliability of the work environment instrument featured a Cronbach’s Alpha value of 0.898,
and that of the sense of belonging showed excellent reliability with a Cronbach’s Alpha value
of 0.938.
The results show that the work environment in this institution is ordinary and the sense of
belonging is high. There is a null correlation between the variables; that is, the work
environment variable does not have an effect on the sense of belonging of the staff of the
Ecuadorian Social Security Institute, Azuay branch. Based on the sample coming from the
staff of the Ecuadorian Social Security Institute, Azuay branch, the sense of belonging is
therefore an independent variable.
