Background: Sexual dysfunction constitutes a health issue that directly affects both physical and mental health. In doing so, sexual dysfunction influences intimate and professional relationships. Objective: To determine the prevalence and factors associated with sexual dysfunction during the transition to menopause and postmenopause in faculty and administrative personnel of the University of Cuenca 2022. Methods: Quantitative, analytical, prospective study. A total of 224 women participants met the inclusion criteria. To evaluate sexual function an index of femenine sexual function was applied and was analyzed by a descriptive statistical hypothesis test. A statistical significant difference was determined by p value < 0.05 to report prevalence with a confidence interval of 95%. All bioethical procedures for human studies were followed. Results: The prevalence of sexual dysfunction was 43.8% with 65.3% postmenopausal. The most affected category was desire (34.4%). An association was statistically identified with SD for women with an age of ≥ 50 years (OR = 2.414; IC 95% = 1.349 – 4.320), education (OR = 12.6240; IC 95% = 1.573 – 101.564) and unsatisfied partner relationship (OR = 6.923; IC 95% = 3.809 – 12.582). Conclusions: Nearly half of the participants presented sexual dysfunction with desire being the most affected category. Risk factors included: age ≥ 50 years, education, and unsatisfied partner relationship.
