Background: Pole Sports is an artistic and athletic activity, in which complex dance and acrobatic movements are merged using a vertical metal pole. Multiple factors determine the performance of this sport discipline, in which the lack of flexibility is of particular importance as it increases the risk for injury. For this reason, the study and development of this ability is the focus of this project. Objective: To determine the degree of flexibility and musculoskeletal injuries in Pole Sports athletes from the "Samsara Pole & Yoga" academy. Cuenca, September 2022 - February 2023.Methodology: A cross-sectional descriptive study. The sample is made up of 60 basic and intermediate level athletes who practice Pole Sports at the "Samsara Pole & Yoga" academy in Cuenca, Azuay. Two tests will be used to assess flexibility, the Sit and Reach Test and the Shoulder Circumduction Test. Results: It was determined that Pole Sports has a high prevalence of female athletes representing 96.7% of the population and the average age was 29. Based on the physical characteristics of the individuals 46.7% correspond to the mesomorph somatotype. The majority of the athletes compete in the intermediate category which consists of 60% of the participants. In this study the flexibility tests revealed that 83.3% of the individuals have lower flexibility levels in the upper body, significantly increasing the risk of injury. 91.6% of athletes show greater flexibility in the lower body also resulting in more sport injuries.
