Resumen
Background: infertility is a multifactorial phenomenon, with a higher prevalence in women, this pathological condition prevents achieving a pregnancy after 12 months of regular unprotected sexual intercourse.
General objective: to describe the radiological findings of the Hysterosalpingography (HSG) in patients with infertility treated at the José Carrasco Arteaga Hospital during the period 2015-2020.
Methods: observational and cross-sectional study. 310 clinical records of patients diagnosed with infertility who underwent HSG were reviewed. The information was collected in a data form; descriptive statistics were applied for the analysis.
Results: 83.5% of patients ranged in age from 21 to 39 years and 83.5% lived in urban areas. It was observed that 7 out of 10 women had secondary infertility; tubal pathology showed a prevalence of 31.3%. Polycystic ovarian syndrome was the most relevant antecedent with 20.3%, followed by abdominal-pelvic surgeries. According to the HSG findings, irregular uterine contours stood out in the uterine cavity in 5.2% and filling defects in 3.9%; on the other hand, in the fallopian tubes, non-permeability towards the peritoneal cavity and difficulty in filling were more frequently identified in 14.2% and 2.6% respectively.
Conclusions: secondary infertility was the most common; predominantly tubal pathology. The relevant findings in HSG in utero were irregular uterine contours and filling defect; in the tubes, the non-permeability of the peritoneal cavity and filling defects.
