Introduction. The teenage parenthood hardly ever has been studied at general level, and even less in Latin America and Ecuador. It always has been considered the mother-infant binomial; leave out the father or taking him just as economic provider, without considering its decisions and feelings. Objectives. To identify attitudes and behaviors of adolescents face the responsibilities of parenthood in the Cantonal Hospital of Paute. Methods. qualitative study of cases. Teen fathers members of the”ser joven” club of the Cantonal Hospital of Paute participated in the study. 11 Teen fathers were interviewed. Conclusions and results. Teen fathers are very affianced and aware of their acts, disposed to assume the consequences, not only in economic terms, but much more in the sentimental and emotional aspect, regardless of their relationship with the mother of their son or daughter, though it cost them to change their plans, not renouncing to it. We also found adolescents that did not accept the responsibility of their paternity.
