Resumen
At present, the blueberry is a crop of great importance due to its nutraceutical properties,
presenting a superficial root system, for this reason it is currently being produced in substrates
which help in the efficiency of this crop. The objective of this research was to evaluate
substrates for the production of blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum L) cvs. Biloxi and Emerald
under greenhouse conditions at Granja el Romeral, Guachapala-Azuay. Independent
experiments were performed for cvs. Biloxi and Emerald, with a completely randomized
experimental design, with 5 treatments and 6 repetitions: Coconut fiber + c.a., Palm fiber +
c.a., Cypress sawdust + c.a., Pine sawdust + c.a., Pine leaf + c.a. The results obtained in cv.
Biloxi for the variables stem diameter, number of flowers, volume, length, dry and fresh weight
of the root system, the best average was obtained based on the substrate Palm fiber + c.a.
after seven months of investigation. For the variables Plant height and number of leaves, the
best averages were obtained based on the substrates Pine leaf + c.a. and Pine sawdust + c.a.
In the cv. Emerald for the variables height of the plant, number of leaves, volume, dry and fresh
weight of the root system, the best averages were obtained based on the substrate Palm fiber
+ c.a. For the variables stem diameter and length of the root system, it was not obtained
significant results.
