The project sought the construction of a horizontal subsurface flow wetland that acts as a filtering garden capable of fulfilling the expected ecological functions and beautifying the wasted space. The aspects for its construction and operational start-up are described; its purpose is the harvesting of runoff water, its treatment and reuse, located on the premises of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, it is intended to renew the area and give a landscape value to the area. The system occupies an area of 30 m2 at the back of the field. The first step in the construction of the project was the characterization of the space, an activity that allowed the proposal and the construction of a low-maintenance and low-cost infrastructure. Subsequent to the implementation of the treatment system area, a gravel support medium was used and a 750-micron geomembrane was used to waterproof the system. The system has a sedimentation well in the feed zone to prevent the entry of solid agents into the wetland. A siphon was installed in the effluent to regulate the water level in the system. The water fed to the system comes from a runoff water channel, a stream that may have some wastewater instruction, in addition to being a completely intermittent or discontinuous feeding system. It is considered important the fact that as a result of the work a conservative looking filter garden was obtained.
