Background: Breastfeeding conformed one of the bases of health promotion and prevention of various pathologies. It affects not only low- and middle-income countries but also higher-income countries. Health policies have been developed to safeguard this practice and thus maternal and child health.
Objetive: Determine the Knowledge Attitudes and Practices of Breastfeeding in Puérperas in the HJCA in the period buy in August - January 2023.Method:
Method: Observational, descriptive, cross-sectional study with 272 puérperas. A survey was carried out, the information of which was poured into a database and the respective analysis was made with the SPSS version 20 statistical package, through frequency and percentage tables.
Results: Mothers aged 20 to 34 predominated, with average level of schooling, with partner, housewives and who have two or more children. Patients show good knowledge in 46.3% of cases. 94.1% have favorable attitudes and only 57.4% have good practices. Knowledge increases with age, level of schooling, having a partner and other children. Attitudes do not show a significant relationship for sociodemographic variables. Practices differ only at the level of schooling.
Conclusions: There are deficiencies in the knowledge of these mothers about exclusive breastfeeding, as well as in the practices, they improve with the increase of the age and the level of schooling. Attitudes towards breastfeeding are favourable in most respondents.
