Resumen
In the Facultad de Psicología de la Universidad de Cuenca, the lack of thermal and lighting comfort causes visual fatigue, headaches, irritability, among others, in the occupant. The above is due to the design of the facade, since it is not only an element that separates the interior from the exterior, but also a component that interacts with the exterior. Faced with this problem, static facades are not an optimal response to provide such comfort. However, after several studies, movable facades have been shown to increase the degree of comfort. Therefore, this research addresses a responsive kinetic facade proposal.
The kinetic facade manages to be an element that relates directly to the outside climate, to adapt to the needs depending on the demand of indoor and outdoor conditions. This allows for individual control of each
module in order to promote optimal shading and maximize the use of daylight. In this work a quantitative methodological approach is used, in which three pertinent references to the climate in which the building is located are analyzed in brief, in order to have a basis for a solution.
The result is obtained through the parameterization by means of simulations and the construction of a 1:10 scale model. All this is supported by the Rhino-Grasshopper software and the Arduino microcontroller. Finally, the comparison between the current facade and the proposed one shows the remarkable improvement of the thermal and lighting environment, analysis contrasted in the J-105 and J-106 classrooms.
