The present research aims to identify the functional, formal and technological relationships between international modern architecture and the buildings inventoried as modern architecture and local modern architecture by the Instituto Nacional de Patrimonio Cultural in the Expediente Técnico de Valoración Patrimonial de El Ejido en la ciudad de Cuenca. Initially, it has started with a chronological study of the modern movement and the influence it had on a global, national and local level; emphasizing the architectural processes that have taken place in the city of Cuenca over the years. Based on the aforementioned, case studies were selected to identify two buildings to be analyzed. For this, the Expediente Técnico de Valoración Patrimonial was taken as a base; the selected case studies are representative of modern architecture and local modern architecture. Finally, the case studies were subjected to different analyses, which allowed us to understand the formal and spatial relationships characteristic of the modern movement and the adaptability of its modern characteristics to local materials.
