Resumen
This research work entitled Proposal for the implementation of vertical and horizontal signage in the rural parishes of Penipe, province of Chimborazo. Its objective is to identify the current situation of signaling, analyze the road infrastructure and present the proposal for the implementation of horizontal and vertical signaling for each of the rural parishes of Penipe. The collection of information on the current situation and evaluation was done through observation sheets based on INEN 004:1 and 004:2. The data collected were: a total of 18 regulatory signs, subdivided into 14 maximum speed signs and 4 stop disks; 37 preventive signs, including 2 forks, 10 right turns, 8 left turns, 14 shoulders, 1 crosswalk, 1 winding curve and 1 bridge; 50 informative and service signs segmented as follows: 6 for church, 5 for destination, 14 for information, 1 for hot springs, 1 for temporary shelter, 3 for populated area 7 bus stops, 1 for school zone, 7 street names, 1 for paragliding, 1 for waterfall, 1 for hiking, 1 for no littering and 1 for evacuation. Among the horizontal signage, 5 different types of demarcations were inventoried, such as: edge lines, opposing flow separation lines, zebra crossing, yield at zebra crossing and speed reducers, all of which require maintenance. As part of the proposal there is a total of 88 vertical signs for a value of $9,760.00, and for horizontal signs 1,696.45m² of paint is required for a cost of $4,362.59, for a total of $14,122.59. It is recommended to manage the implementation of these proposals since the signage is not in good condition and plays an important role for road safety and mobility within the Canton.
