Resumen
This work approaches the development of an inventory management model based on the ISO
9001:2015 standard in the company Carrocerías YAULEMA JR Riobamba city. A study of
applicative type was carried out, for the collection of information was designed and applied a
checklist created based on 7 chapters of the standard with which it was determined the level of
compliance of 31% according the requirements of ISO 9001:2015, as well as a Pareto analysis
to establish the causes of the problems in the warehouse and a SWOT matrix analysis, a strategic
plan was developed, which includes a system for inventory control and registration in Excel,
consisting of 6 modules, the ABC methodology was implemented through the use of the value
and utility method for the classification of materials, and data was collected on the unit cost of
materials and consumption over a period of three months. In addition, as part of the inventory
management system, an operations diagram and flow charts of the activities carried out in the
warehouse were developed to document the procedures. With the implementation of an action
plan, 165 materials were labeled, the warehouse utilization indicator was reduced from 86% to
72%, storage speed improved from 3 batches/hour to 4.28, efficiency increased from 68.96% to
95.24% and compliance with ISO 9001:2015 increased to 81%. It is concluded that the inventory
management model based on ISO 9001:2015 standard was able to optimize the KPI’s proposed
in the work. It is recommended to make a simulation before implementing changes to save time
and unnecessary costs generated by a real implementation.
