Resumen
This research work aimed to establish the correlation between the concentrations of carbon
monoxide and carbon dioxide in the passenger compaftment of four SUV-type vehicles (Kia
Sportage) with temperature and relative humidity through the use of the calibrated measurement
eqr"ripment IAQ Testo 440 with two measurement probes, where probe I delivers CO values
while probing 2 registers CO2, temperature, relative humidity, and atmospheric pressure. The
measurements were made in the driver and passenger area considering a separation partition
between these areas, in three diflerent modes of operation of the air conditioning system, with
the vehicle parked and its revolutions at idle. The data collection was based on the Russian
interstate regulation GOST 33554-2A15. In the results, the behavior of the variables and the
corelatio¡l between them were determined, resolving that, during the three modes of ventilation
and in the two study areas, there was an inverse linear correlation with an average percentage of
460A between carbon monoxide and relative liurnidity, an inverse linear correlation with a
substantial percentage determination equivalenl to 64Yo between carbon dioxide and relative
humidify, a direct linear correlation with a reasonable percentage determination equal to 580/o
between carbon monoxide and close humiclity temperature, and a straightforward linear
correlation with a substantial percentage of determination equivalent to 77Yo between carbon
dioxide and the temperature in the passenger compaftme¡rt of the vehicles. It w-as concluded that
as the concentrations of CO and CO2 increase, the temperature in the passenger compartment
increases, and the relative hr"rmidity decreases. It is recomrnended to take precautions when
turning on tlie air conditioning system since misuse can cause serious health problems for the
occupants.
