dc.description.abstractBy recognizing the causes for the interception of flow through the Pucará irrigation canal in its 10 kilometers in length through an expedited prospecting and topographic study, it allows us to identify critical sections and at the same time through a sectorization of the canal, propose the intervention of works and works for the rehabilitation of the irrigation water conduction in these critical points. It is assessed that the biggest problem is found in the Pucará stream, which drags coarse and fine sediments along its channel, and since it does not have any sediment control structure, these cause the interception of the flow through the elevated concrete channel. Consequently, it is necessary to carry out a hydrological study of the contributing basin, to obtain the average and maximum flood flow, very useful to propose preliminary designs of coarse sediment retention structures, as well as a diversion system which includes surplus spillway, sand trap, located downstream at the entrance to the Pucará irrigation canal. The proposal for these hydraulic works, and after carrying out a feasibility analysis with the users of the irrigation system, will undoubtedly serve as the basis for designs to rehabilitate and improve flow transport in the canal.
