Resumen
Animated feature films are an industry with a turnover of billions of dollars, in countries where this industry is emerging they can earn up to thousands of dollars, however, this industry is not active in Ecuador. This research seeks to analyze the state of animation in Ecuador and to explain the factors that affect the production of animated feature films.
As a methodological part of the research, it works through a type of exploratory research, also resorts to a logical-deductive method, with a mixed methodology by applying a series of interviews to career directors and teachers of 4 higher education institutions such as the Universidad de la Américas (UDLA), Universidad Politécnica Salesiana (UPS), Instituto Superior de Cine y Actuación (INCINE), and Instituto Metropolitano de Diseño, as well as the production company Haiku Audiovisual and Victoria Pérez, understood as professionals in the animation field, and a survey to students in the last levels of animation careers of the 4 institutions mentioned above, all located in the city of Quito.
The results obtained in the study show that one of the factors that most affect the lack of production of feature films in the country is the economic issue and the lack of job opportunities that exist in the country to work in this field of animation, so there is a brain drain of students who are linked to foreign companies to work and this in turn causes that there is no local market much less a production of animated feature films in Ecuador
