Abstract

The role of small businesses is increasingly more important for modern societies. In America, small businesses account for 80% of the new jobs created, 39% of all high tech workers, and produce approximately 14 times more patents per employee than large firms (Bygrave & Zacharakis, 2008). A firm is considered small if it is independently owned, operated, and financed and has fewer than 100 employees.
