Determinación del tiempo óptimo de un ciclo de filtración en un filtro prensa mediante modelamiento matemático

En esta investigación se realizó el análisis de un modelo matemático para pronosticar el tiempo óptimo del ciclo en una operación de filtración. El objetivo fundamental, fue determinar el efecto que tiene el modelo matemático en el pronóstico del tiempo óptimo. El modelo matemático empleado para la predicción del tiempo óptimo, se generó de una ecuación matemática; que es resultado de la teoría convencional de la filtración con formación de torta a presión variable, que describe la evolución del volumen de filtrado en el tiempo, al cual se aplicó, el criterio de maximizar el volumen total de filtrado después de un tiempo de operación. Para el logro del objetivo, se realizaron pruebas de filtración de suspensiones de tierra diatomea, en una celda de pruebas para esta operación, y en un filtro prensa industrial. Con los datos experimentales de la celda de pruebas, se obtuvieron las constantes características para las suspensiones que se necesitan en el modelo matemático, para pronosticar el tiempo óptimo. Mientras que con los datos experimentales obtenidos en el filtro prensa, se determinó el tiempo óptimo para el mismo tipo de suspensión empleada en la celda de pruebas. Con todo ello, se comparó los resultados del tiempo óptimo pronosticado con el modelo, y los determinados con el filtro prensa. Finalmente, de la comparación y análisis de los resultados, y para los casos estudiados, se concluye que el tiempo óptimo de un ciclo de filtración, estimado con el modelo matemático basado en la teoría convencional, tiene como máximo un 1 % de diferencia respecto del calculado con el filtro prensa.
