En el presente trabajo de investigación se tuvo como objetivo principal la incidencia de la concentración del polvo de la semilla de Cassia fistula como coagulante natural y el tiempo de agitación, sobre la turbidez en el tratamiento de agua potable de la Unidad Minera Poderosa. Se tomó muestras tanto en épocas de ausencia y presencia de lluvias.
El polvo de la semilla de Cassia fistula fue probado como coagulante natural en muestras de agua cruda con 3 niveles diferentes de concentración de coagulante y tiempo de agitación de 15mg/L, 20 mg/L, 30mg/L y 20minutos, 30minutos y 40minutos, respectivamente. Se utilizó ANOVA con un nivel de confianza del 95% para verificar si había diferencias estadísticamente significativas entre las variables independientes. La remoción de turbidez en agua cruda alcanzó hasta el 97,8% en época de estiaje y hasta el 98,7% en época de avenida, con una dosis óptima de 20ppm y a 40 minutos como tiempo de agitación. Se encontró variaciones de pH de 8,03 en época de estiaje y 8,09 en época de avenida con 30ppm de dosis de coagulante, por lo que se llegó a la conclusión de que existe una relación directamente proporcional entre la dosis de coagulante y pH.
