Saint Lucia. Significant achievements 2010-2017

Abstract

The main activities carried out by the Institute in Saint Lucia are identified, during the period from 2010 to 2017, with respect to the needs and interests of the country, strengthening issues such as beekeeping, biosecurity, sustainability, nutrition, new technologies, agriculture organic farming, irrigation systems, climate change resilience, soil management, leadership, and food safety and sanitation. Likewise, work was done on fodder, financing, production chains for honey, pineapple and ruminants, packaging and labeling. Finally, technical assistance was provided to women and youth for their inclusion in agriculture.

Se identifican las principales actividades realizadas por el Instituto en Santa Lucia, durante el período comprendido desde el año 2010 al 2017, con respecto a las necesidades e intereses del país, fortaleciendo en temas como apicultura, bioseguridad, sostenibilidad, nutrición, tecnologías nuevas, agricultura orgánica, sistemas de riego, resiliencia contra el cambio climático, manejo del suelo, liderazgo y sanidad e inocuidad alimentaria. Asimismo, se trabajo en forrajes, financiamientos, cadenas de producción de la miel, la piña y rumiantes, empaquetado y etiquetado. Finalmente, se brindó asistencia técnica a mujeres y jóvenes para su inclusión en la agricultura.
