adaptacion en comparacion con los esqueletos realizados mediante aleaciones metalicas Removable metal prostheses are the most used option by partially edentulous patients, they fulfill
biological functions but are not aesthetic enough, they retain biofilm and if they are not adjusted
correctly, they affect the periodontium. There is a material whose acronym is called PEEK
(Polyether-ether-ketone), which is a thermo crystalline plastic that provides all the benefits of a
removable metal partial denture, adding its high aesthetics, having a whitish color and its
biocompatibility with the oral cavity and the adjacent tissues by having a surface that repels
biofilm, thus preventing the formation of dental biofilm around it.
Purpose: to determine the advantages of removable partial dentures with PEEK structure over
metal alloys, identifying their benefits and properties.
Method: this research is based on the exploratory and bibliographic method from which
information has been obtained through scientific articles and virtual platforms about this
material.
Conclusions: it has been concluded in this research that PEEK as a material has excellent
properties and as a skeleton for removable prostheses it presents better precision and adaptation
compared to skeletons made using metal alloys
