The anterior teeth in the oral cavity receive horizontal and oblique forces during
mastication. When they lose a large part of their anatomical structure, they are
exposed to fractures that cause an imbalance in the distribution of the forces inside the
mouth. Intraradicular posts, especially those made of fiberglass, are considered in
restorative dentistry as elements capable of supporting and linking a dental piece to the
coronal area, which was partially or completely weakened after root canal treatment,
stabilizing the structural forces that it receives. The present work focuses on
determining the factors associated with the restoration with fiberglass posts in
endodontically treated anterior teeth; it was structured as a type of qualitative research
developed by bibliographic exploration of recent studies that describe and explain
fundamental concepts related to the subject. It is concluded that the ferrule effect is
essential as a previous step to the placement of the intraradicular post, because it
increases the effectiveness of the restoration, it should be carved symmetrically around
the tooth with 2 mm of length and 1 mm of thickness, to then place the post in severely
affected dental pieces with or without fractures in the coronal-radicular area or
destroyed marginal and incisive ridges, Finally, the fiberglass post type, due to its biocompatibility and its elasticity similar to dentin, allows the distribution of forces
homogeneously decreasing the fracture rate, being considered in accordance with the
results with the esthetics and mechanics of the oral cavity.
