The present research work aims to analyze public investment in higher education and what the effects have been on the Ecuadorian economy. Since 2010, Ecuador has faced various changes in its educational system since the Organic Law of Higher Education (LOES) was approved, in order to improve the quality of higher education, by creating government institutions such as CEAACES, which is the which regulates the processes of evaluation and accreditation of universities, Ecuadorian scientific production, although scarce, is gradually positioning itself in international scientific journals. With the rise in the price of oil, it caused the State to increase investment by contributing to the development of industrial activities by providing public goods and services such as education, health, transportation and others. Variables such as General State Budget (PGE), Gross Domestic Product (PIB) and PIB Per Capita are analyzed, this in order to know if it has been invested correctly in higher education and if it reflects positive aspects in the Ecuadorian economy. With this research it is concluded that the variables studied yielded a direct and positive result because, as the variable public investment in higher education increases, the PIB also increases.
