The research approach is mixed, it is necessary to resort to both statistical sources and chain actors to obtain information that allows understanding its complexities and identifying potentialities and challenges. The methodological route has three stages: the situational analysis of the production and export of tree tomato, the application of the diagnosis proposed by ECLAC in its methodology for the strengthening of value chains, and a SWOT analysis, as a preliminary step to the design. of proposals. It is concluded that the value chain has export potential and the tree tomato has the capacity to position itself as a leader in the international market. In addition, there are companies that add value to this product, despite the problems it presents in the production link, specifically in the ineffective fight against the plague in this crop. It was identified that producers do not have the knowledge and initiative to adhere to the requirements and demands of international markets. Therefore, public policy is vital to boost the takeoff of this export product.
