Bovine Leptospirosis is an infectious disease, with high morbidity and low mortality in cattle herds, caused by one or more serovars of L. interrogans, and has the characteristic of producing in cattle: abortions, mastitis, stillbirth, septicemia and birth of Weak offspring, dying shortly after birth. The objective of this investigation is to establish the presence of the circulating serovars of L. interrogans among the bovine cattle of the Loja canton, through the MAT test. A total of 157 blood samples were collected by jugular vein puncture and the sera were analyzed by means of the plate agglutination (MAT) test against the battery of serovar antigens from L. interrogans (L. Pomona, L. grippotyphosa, L. canícola, L. icterohaemorrhagiae, L. hebdomadis, L. autumnalis, L. wolffi, L. hardjo, L. sejroe and L. bataviae). It was found that 58.60% of samples were reactive for L. interrogans, which were analyzed by MAT for determination of serovars and their respective titles. There was a predominance of circulation of three serovars: L. canícola (43.44%), L. sejroe (40.16%) and L. hardjo (13.12%); The presence of reactivity for L. icterohaemorrhagiae and L. grippotyphosa was detected in 1.64% of the samples. There is a high positive serology for Leptospira in a population of asymptomatic cattle and favorable conditions for the presence in these areas, due to this it is necessary to elaborate usual prevention activities taking into account the results of this investigation.
