Utilización del Pie de Rey en la determinación de la Dimensión Vertical Oclusal en Pacientes Desdentados

Abstract

En el presente trabajo de grado que se realiza previo a la obtención del título de odontólogo cuyo objetivo es la correcta utilización del Pie de Rey como técnica de medición en la determinación de la Dimensión Vertical Oclusal en Pacientes Edéntulos tratados en la Clínica del Adulto y Adulto Mayor en los diferentes semestres en el Área de Prótesis Removible en la Facultad Piloto de Odontología en el período lectivo 2017 – 2018 Ciclo II, la metodología que se aplica en este trabajo es de tipo revisión bibliográfica y de encuesta en las diferentes áreas de Prótesis Removible en los diferentes semestres que están trabajando con Pacientes Edéntulos que hayan utilizado prótesis anteriormente y se observará, si aún con la utilización de esta prótesis anterior existe o no una disminución de la Dimensión Vertical Oclusal, por lo cual se realizará la medición al paciente que se encuentren como pacientes de los alumnos del área de Prótesis Removible dentro de la Clínica Integral de la Facultad Piloto de Odontología para observar si se ha podido determinar la Dimensión Vertical Oclusal correcta, el resultado obtenido de esta investigación es que la mayoría de los alumnos no realiza la medición de la Dimensión Vertical a lo largo de la rehabilitación protésica, además nos dio a conocer que los docentes dentro del área de Prótesis Removible no hacen hincapié en la utilización del Pie de Rey u otro instrumento en la medición de la Dimensión Vertical, por lo cual la mayoría de estudiantes no conocen la correcta utilización de dicho instrumento, se concluyó que el Pie de Rey si es un instrumento de medición confiable en la determinación de la Dimensión Vertical Oclusal

This degree work made before obtaining the dentist title has as main objective the correct use of the Foot of King as a measurement technique in the determination of the Occlusal Vertical Dimension in Edentulous patients, treated in the Adult and Elderly Clinic in the different semesters in the Removable Prosthetics Area at the Dental School in the academic year 2017-2018, Cycle II. The methodology that has been applied in this work, is of bibliographic review and survey type in the different areas of Removable Prosthesis in the different semesters that are working with Edentulous Patients who have used prostheses previously and in here. It will be observed if the use of this mentioned process produces or does not produce a decrease of the Occlusal Vertical Dimension, for which, the patients of students of the Removable Prosthetics areas, in the Integral Clinic of the Dentistry Faculty were used, to see if it is possible to determine the correct Occlusal Vertical Dimension. The obtained result, from this research, is that most of the students do not measure the Vertical Dimension throughout the prosthetic rehabilitation. In addition, they made us know that teachers, of the Removable Prosthesis area, do not emphasize the use of the Foot of King or another instrument in the measurement of the Vertical Dimension, so, the majority of students do not know the correct use of that instrument. As a conclusion it was obtained that the King´s Foot, is a reliable measuring instrument in the determination of the Occlusal Vertical Dimension.
