This research work was carried out during community service practices based on a project to link up with the society "Prevention and comprehensive care addressed to children with behavioral and learning problems" that was applied at the Guayas Avanza Foundation within the Integral Center of Equine Therapy (CIE) of the Prefecture of Guayas, in the months of June-August 2017. Participants were 5 children between 6-8 years old diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), tutors and caregivers of the children and graduates of the Faculty of Psychological Sciences, University of Guayaquil. It was a qualitative research with an action research design, with a descriptive scope. The general objective of the work was to develop the communicative skills of children with ASD, through the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) to reduce their disruptive behaviors. The communicative skills of children with ASD were evaluated through a semi-structured interview, addressed to tutors and caregivers, and observation sheets in each session implemented with the children, according to the PECS phases. A psychoeducational workshop was arranged for tutors / caregivers on the functionality of the PECS to work together at home. Finally, communicative skills were reevaluated by means of observation tokens to the children and the semi-structured interview to tutors / caregivers to verify if there was a change in them after the implementation of the PECS. As a result, children with ASD were able to develop their communicative skills, allowing them to reduce their disruptive behaviors
