The present investigation has as a general objective to evaluate the efficiency of
the use of the maintainers of space before the premature loss of teeth early and to
demonstrate that the use of the maintainer preserves the length of dental arch
before premature tooth loss early. The research was conducted qualitatively, i.e.
worked with theoretical foundation and statistical tables that quantify the results
obtained from the simple. The technique of data collection was based on the
analysis of clinical tabs of the patients attended in the parallel 5/10 of the Clinic of
Pediatric Dentistry of the University of Guayaquil, Working on a sample of 38 tabs
of premature loss of temporary teeth and placement of maintainers of space. The
results obtained from the research shows that children who more problems of
dental extractions are included premature between 8 and 9 years with 53%. The
dental piece that more is lost is the No. 74 to 15%. The extractions premature
made inside the clinic patients in the sample, 93 % were caused by caries
problems, And the 7 per cent is produced by trauma. Of 24 patients who did not
receive the treatment of maintainers of space, 5 patients had already lost the
length of dental arch, were therefore not suitable for placement. It concludes by
stating that the hypothesis is verified, that the use of space-maintainer preserves
the length of dental arch before premature tooth loss early.
