Estudio Comparativo de Factibilidad de Uso de Herramientas de Control de Dispositivos y Servicios de Red de Datos Mediante el Protocolo SNMP y Software Libre

Abstract

El presente trabajo tiene como visión principal demostrar la importancia que tienen los software de monitoreo y la necesidad de emplearlos en la redes de una entidad para el control de un departamento de computo central, enlaces, conectividad y otras funciones, que para un correcto control de dichos aspectos hay que elegir un buen sistema que permita ver con exactitud todos los parámetros que giran en torno al centro de cómputo, por este motivo se demostrará que el uso de herramientas de monitoreo como Nagios , Zabbix ,Cacti , PRTG son lo más recomendable para llevar un control dentro de la red . El estudio comparativo realizado entre los software de monitoreo (Nagios, Zabbix, Cacti, PRTG) durante 2 meses y en función a sus características representativas se establece de manera unánime que la herramienta de monitoreo que cumplió con los requisitos indispensables para una correcta monitorización fue PRTG el sistema obtiene logs de eventos que muestran los errores y visualiza mediante gráficas en líneas el comportamiento de los dispositivos. Para el estudio de factibilidad se hace la instalación de la herramienta de monitorización PRTG dentro de los laboratorios S-1, S-2 y N-1 de la facultad de Ciencias Matemáticas y Físicas tanto para la CARRERA DE SISTEMAS COMPUTACIONALES como para la CARRERA DE NETWORKING Y TELECOMUNICACIONES, obteniendo resultados de eventos e incidentes que se presenten en la red y a su vez sean solucionados con el menor tiempo.

This work aims to show the importance of monitoring software and the need to use them in the networks of a company to control a computer center department, such as links, connectivity and other functions that for proper control of these aspects it is necessary to choose an appropriate system that allows to see accurately all the parameters revolving around the data center, for this reason it will be shown that the use of monitoring tools as Nagios , Zabbix ,Cacti , PRTG are the most recommended to keep control within the network. The comparative study between monitoring software (Nagios, Zabbix, Cacti, PRTG) was done for two months and according to its representative characteristics set unanimously that monitoring tool that met the prerequisites for proper monitoring was PRTG, the system obtains ”logs” of events that shows errors and displays the behavior of the devices by graphic lines. For the feasibility study, it was installed monitoring tool PRTG in the S-1, S-2 and N-1 laboratories of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physical Sciences and both for Career of computer systems Engineering as well as Career of Networking and Telecommunications Engineering, obtaining results of events and incidents that occur in the networks and, in turn, are solved in the shortest time.
