Sinusitis; seno maxilar; micosis; intrasinusal; flujo nasal; comunicación bucosinusal; ostium; drenaje The following research work has as main objective to publicize on the sinusitis and its relationship with the oral cavity is extremely important and indispensable to the dentist within professional practice have these skills. Sinusitis is defined as inflammation of the mucosa or the underlying bone of the walls of one or more paranasal sinuses that usually are due to an infection by bacterial, viral or fungal. Situation that leads to a build-up of secretions in its interior. The pathogenic mechanism of production of the sinusitis is based on an obstruction of the ostium of the paranasal sinus, causing a ventilatory defect couldbe possible and secondarily an inflammatory process-infective with accumulation of secretions. As dental sources of maxillary sinusitis have been considered to be the periapical abscess periapical infection, chronic, extensive periodontal lesions or perforation of the floor or antral mucosa of this at the time of tooth extraction, causing a communication oral sinus. Their symptoms in the acute sinusitis are: a feeling of discomfort and dryness; intense headache and pain in the maxillary bone affected, in regard to the chronic sinusitis have neuralgias above and infraorbitales of variable intensity; persistent bad taste in the mouth, unilateral nasal flow and intermittent. The present research is descriptive, therefore does not develop displays, there is no population, nor was any evidence, will be described that way relates the sinusitis with the oral cavity and the high prevalence that has this disease worldwide.
