dc.descriptionDiarrheic feces from 150 piglets younger than 40 days old, were examined in order to isolate E. coli strains and test their adherence capacity to HEp-2 cells. For this purpose, samples were seeded on eosin methylen blue agar. Isolated E. coli strains were cultured in tryptone broth with 1% D-mannose and then inoculated to HEp-2 monolayer cells.. Strains with adherence capacity were obtained from 20 piglets. In 11 piglets (7.3%) the isolated strains showed localised adherence; in 5 piglets (3.3, they had an aggregative pattern of adherence and in 4 piglets (2.7%), they showed a pattern of diffuse adherence.en-US
dc.descriptionSe examinaron fecas diarreicas de 150 cerditos menores de 40 días de edad con el propósito de aislar cepas de E. coli y probar su capacidad de adherirse a las células HEp-2. Para tal objeto, las muestras se sembraron en agar eosina azul de metileno. Las cepas de E. coli aisladas se sembraron en agua triptonada con 1% de D- manosa y se inocularon sobre monocapas de células HEp-2. Las cepas con adherencia correspondieron a 20 cerditos. En 11 cerditos (7,3%) las cepas aisladas exhibieron adherencia localizada, en 5 (3,3%) fueron adherencia agregativa y en 4 (2,7%) presentaron un patrón de adherencia difusa.  es-ES
