The present paper has the objective of analyzing in light of doctrine and comparative law the innovative institution of adequate representation, peculiar to collective procedures. Its regulation in the Chilean Consumer Protection Act is studied, especially the corresponding representation of consumer and user associations, as well as the Supreme Court’s criteria in the recent rulings regarding the subject.El presente trabajo tiene por objeto analizar a la luz de la doctrina y el Derecho comparado la novedosa institución de la representatividad adecuada, propia de los procedimientos colectivos. Se estudia su regulación en la legislación chilena de protección del consumidor, en especial la representación que corresponde a las asociaciones de consumidores y usuarios y se efectúa un análisis del criterio que la Corte Suprema ha sentado en fallos recientes sobre la materia.
