dc.description.abstractThe role of statistics in the context of researches in Science and Food Technology area is discussed based on exploratory survey focusing researchers randomly selected in database research groups of the CNPq. The results suggest that researchers recognize their low knowledge about more complex statistical techniques, although they consider its value and importance in design and data analysis for successful projects. We highlight the need for reflection about the use of statistics in scientific evidences, methodological mistakes and lack of papers that examine and stimulate a broad and proactive discussion involving use of statistics in that area.
