Protection of civilians in the UN peacekeeping operation in South Sudan: Joint use of military and police

Resumen
The civil war which began in South Sudan, at the end of 2013, has caused, for the first time in the history of the United Nations, a huge movement of internal displaced people inwards the compounds of the UNMISS, seeking for protection. Then, the Protection of Civilian Sites have been created. Along the incoming of thousands of people in a few weeks, there was a sharp growth in humanitarian and security demands. In order to deliver such protection, it was necessary the joint use of military, police and civilians from UNMISS, what is going to be presented in this paper.
