The objectíve of this work was to re-examine the subsurface thermal behavior of the Recôncavo sedimentary basin, in order to ímprove the definition of its geothermal parameters: gradient, conductivity and heat flow. The corrected temperature gradients were calculated using bottom-hole temperatures, according to two different techniques. For the whole basin the average gradíent was 28.4 ± 2.7ºC/km using 151 wells. With the new measurements accomplished in the laboratory, for a total of 119 values, the Recôncavo Basin presented a mean value of 2.6 ± 0.1 W/mºC for the thermal conductivity, resulting an average heat flow of 73.5 ±6.7 mW/m2 .
