dc.descriptionThe needs analysis for the use of English for Specific Purposes among students of Electromechanical Engineering of the Technological Institute of Mexico, Chihuahua subsidiary, constitutes the objective of the present study. On this research, theoretical concepts of several authors regarding needs analysis on language teaching are established, particularly on English for specific purposes, as well as the selection and adaptation of an instrument for data collecting specially crafted for this process in engineering. The collected data were processed by statistical means through specialized software, and the information of a qualitative nature complemented the patterns found in the descriptive analysis. The obtained results allowed to determine the main academic and professional needs of the students regarding the use of English for Specific Purposes, as well as the level of proficiency in which the current curricula provides solutions of said needs. The derived conclusions of the data analysis will make possible the improvement of the currently available curricula, as well as a stepping stone of further research.en-US
dc.descriptionLa determinación de necesidades para el uso del inglés con propósitos específicos en estudiantes de ingeniería Electromecánica del Instituto Tecnológico de México, filial Chihuahua, constituye el objetivo del presente estudio. En esta investigación se establecen las concepciones teóricas de diversos autores en relación a la determinación de necesidades en la enseñanza de idiomas y en inglés con propósitos específicos en particular, así como la selección y adaptación de un instrumento para la recolección de datos diseñado especialmente para este proceso en la especialidad de ingeniería. Los datos recolectados fueron procesados por métodos estadísticos a través de software especializado y la información de carácter cualitativo sirvió para complementar las regularidades obtenidas con los métodos descriptivos. Los resultados obtenidos permitieron determinar las principales necesidades académicas y profesionales de los estudiantes de ingeniería en relación al uso del inglés con propósitos específicos, así como el nivel de satisfacción con el que el currículo escolar actual logra suplir dichas necesidades.  Las conclusiones derivadas del estudio permitirán mejorar la oferta educativa disponible para los ingenieros y servir como punto de partida a investigaciones posteriores.es-ES
